We are a pretty good church, made up of average people who surrendered their lives to God and have been transformed by His Word. We are lovers of God and man and certain that life is not all about us but all about Jesus. We stand in awe of His story and are determined to be a part of it as we celebrate Him and love our neighbors. We want you to know that RTBC is a place where it’s okay to not be okay. It’s a place where you can be accepted as you are, experience life-changing grace, and heal from your past hurts.
We are people who talk His grace, live His grace and survive by His grace. We are young and old, we are dreamers and risk takers, we seek justice for all, we seek strength for the weak, freedom for the slave, and give love to the outcast. We are His people gathered by Him in Houston to love Houston.
To love both God and the people of Houston and give to both all that we are and all that we have.
We believe that church is not a building or an event. Church is not limited to one location. The church is a community of people on a mission to love God, one another, and the city they call home.
A lot happens at this relatively small church and our mission is at the center of it all. We believe that God created people to be in a relationship with Him and in community with others who know Him. It is in that community that we learn from each other, build each other up, laugh and cry with each other, and never let anyone remain lonely.
Weekend worship is a time to learn and be challenged by God’s word. It is a time to make sure that on Monday morning we will be moving in the right direction.
Weekend worship is for those who are sure that they know God and those that feel like He is calling them but are not sure about who He really is. We truly want to make you welcome and give to you our love, friendship, the hope that we have in Christ. You are always welcome no matter where you might be in your life right now.
An offering is collected at each worship service for those that are part of this church to help in the mission of the church. If you are visiting or are not a believer, please feel free to let the offering plate pass you by.
Thankfully one of the first things that some people look at when they visit a church is material that says “What We Believe.” It is a doctrinal statement and that is a good thing for a church to have and an important thing for a visitor to read. The problem is that it is often seen as a list of what it takes to get to be a part of the church or that it is a list of things to exclude someone from being a part of the church. Really, this is a list of transformational truth.
In our quick-changing, fast-paced, post-modern world, we want you to understand what matters most to us. We value a personal relationship with Jesus Christ our savior and Lord, Biblical truth, authenticity, generosity, servanthood, acceptance, worship, prayer, both those who do not know Jesus and those who do, and a dependency on the Holy Spirit.
In the final analysis, a church’s belief system is defined by what they spend their time, energy, and money on, what their mission and vision says, and the place or places where they do ministry.
